A Greek Taverna in Coventry
As we entered the tip of the iceberg of Covid-19 in March 2020, all of the weddings we were so much looking forward to doing were slowly rescheduled, some have now even had to be postponed more than once! It’s been a heck of year, and we’ve all been deeply affected by the pandemic in one way or another. However it’s not all been doom and gloom; 2020 may have given us one of our favourite weddings of all time!
Richard and Tania came to us in July with the hope to add a small touch of Greek flavour to their wedding in September. They had originally planned to be married in Greece; so if they couldn’t go to Greece, then a touch of Greece can come to them!
Perhaps just a simple Lemon Canopy tree to beautifully frame the couple for the wedding ceremony and for the head table? Simple and effective!
Fast-forward a month, and yet another venue change, plans for the decor were now to completely transform a local hotel restaurant space to become a traditional Greek Taverna. Working with the bride & groom there were lots of wonderful ideas and suggestions on how to bring their Greek inspired wedding to life to make the venue into their very own unique space. … Exciting! We love the task of a themed transformation!
At the end of September (nail bitingly slipping in just before the 15 people limit restriction!) we transformed The Jacobean Hotel by adorning the walls full of greenery and foliage for the full impact of the wonderfully picturesque Grecian villages.
The venue itself has some beautiful Mediterranean style floor tiles and vibrant blue walls which matched the typical authenticity of Greek design, we just had to bring it alive. We installed a canopy bougainvillea tree to add an impactful pop of colour and as per the original plan, the bride and groom still had the canopy lemon tree to sit under for their reception. We even transformed the conservatory into an outdoor vineyard vibe with fairy lights and grapevines. With the addition of some festoon lighting on the terrace area to really make the guests feel like they were partying under the Grecian summer night sky.
A big shout out to Little Wedding Treasures who supplied the awesome colourful table centrepieces which really brought the whole look together.
This truly is a dream wedding story of how love overcomes all challenges despite the trying times of Covid-19 and despite the numerous Covid hurdles along the way, nothing was going to stop this beautiful, determined couple from getting married. And we couldn’t be happier for them, congratulations Richard and Tania!
Review
“More Weddings are amazing! Right from the start they listened to our wants and needs and ensured that our Greek themed wedding was not only brought to life but was done so with ease. Nothing we asked was dismissed, it was discussed and their ideas made it a reality. Throughout the whole process they answered my never ending queries and even accommodated last minute changes. In such uncertain times arranging a wedding is stressful enough, More Weddings took the pressure off. Their professionalism, friendliness and expertise made the whole process really enjoyable and to be honest, makes me want to organise events just so I can work with them again. I highly recommend More Weddings and More Productions and I know that I’ll definitely be seeing them again in the future. Thank you! X”
